A Desk is Crucial to Me for Blogging

A Desk is Crucial to Me for Blogging

I started taking some classes again. It isn’t a heavy workload I don’t think, but it’s a change in my schedule. It’s been an adjustment period. On top of it, I’m in the process of unpacking and getting rid of things, so my place is quite the disaster.

I have no desk at the moment. During July, I was able to use the kitchen table, but with the current schedules of every one else in the house, I cannot use it anymore. Hence the lack of posting. Right now I’m actually typing this up on my phone, which is annoying but doable. I’m not one of those people who can type long entries on my phone or use my laptop on my couch because it aggravates my carpal tunnel syndrome.

On top of it all, my father was hospitalized recently due to health problems. Thankfully he is home again.🙂

In the end, yes I’m around. Yes, I’m behind on reading, but I plan on catching up soon.

Your turn

Anyone have desk recommendations for me? I haven’t found anything that is like “Yes! I must have that!”

Where do you blog from? What does your work area look like?

  1. pamkirst2014 says: September 2, 2015 at 7:56 pm Kristina, I’ve found that writing posts in Microsoft Word causes me formatting headaches, so I draft my posts now in my old IPad’s Notes app, and then email that to myself. For some reason, I write best at my dining room table, early in the morning or late at night, when I have it to myself. I edit best at my desk, though, so I open the draft on my laptop, paste it into a WP draft, and spend several days whipping it into shape. Good luck with your new schedule, settling in, and family medical issues! I hope, by this time next month, you’re feeling like all is well! Pam Reply Kristina Van Hoose says: September 2, 2015 at 8:06 pm Hi Pam. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. That sounds like quite a work flow. Here’s a tip for formatting with Word. If you copy it and paste it into the HTML box instead of the visual editor, you shouldn’t have any formatting problems. If you do, it’ll just be putting paragraphs back in. I tend to use the WordPress editor for my drafts. For stories and fiction works, I sometimes work on them in Google Drive. I hope I feel better about the new routine come October too. 🙂 Thanks! 2. Megan says: September 2, 2015 at 8:33 pm I love my desk! It’s big and in an L shape so I have plenty of room for my computer, books, and folders. And I still have lots of room to spread out my textbooks when I need to study. I practically live at my desk. 🙂 Reply Kristina Van Hoose says: September 2, 2015 at 10:48 pm I’ve been considering an L desk, but I’m not sure how it’ll do if it’s not against two walls (in a corner). Do you have any advice? Do you know what kind of desk it is? Reply Megan says: September 4, 2015 at 12:49 pm If you put the longest part against the wall and just let the short part hang out I think it will look fine. I’ve seen it done before. It gives you so much more room. I don’t know what kind it is. I just call it an L desk. lol. It’s pretty simple design with two drawers on one end (which is a great place to store stuff without making your desk look cluttered). I happened to be visiting with my brother and a woman walked by carrying a plastic table. Perfect, I thought. I asked her if I could buy it. “This old thing.
